![]() ![]() ![]() Recently, a chinese developer tried to bring one of these games to Steam, called Heroes & Titans Online. The kinds of monetization that gets implemented in these games, by classical gaming standards, is utterly appalling, approaching gouging and flat out underhanded marketing, but apparently, in the mobile world, this is par for the course and pretty much standard fare in a market that essentially won't suffer a typical sell A product, get B money. They tend to have similar 'mechanics' (and by mechanics here, I don't really mean gameplay so much as monetization methods, which are pseudo gameplay tied) such as a timed action currency renewal to be used to perform various game actions to continue progress, a real money shop to convert money into the aforementioned action currency, which of course you can use to flat out buy stuff, etc. So lately I've been on a bit of a 'rush' game kick (I'm genuinely unsure if this is the 'correct' term for these games, but I suspect you know the kind of games I'm talking about here), which despite being quite possibly the MOST anti-consumer types of games, designed almost entirely to try to wring every penny out of you, I have to admit, I find them entertaining and in some ways, very 'fun' to the lizard part of my brain.įor those that don't know what I'm describing, for the most part, these games exist primarily in the mobile space, and are typically designed to be low time investment toilet phone games (things you play while sitting on the throne, not scat themed stuff you perv).
